Eight and counting…

At the risk of being one of those people that posts sunset pictures way too often, I’m sharing this with you all.

This past Friday, I had my 8-yr “California-versary”. Yep, I celebrate that. Let me explain! It was a big moment. I got a chance to house-sit a relative’s house for 3 months, so I packed up what I could of my life in two suitcases and boarded a plane. It was a new beginning, I knew nobody (except for the relatives that were MIA for 3 months), and I was nervous and excited all at the same time. I started from scratch, starting by literally opening up the yellow pages and cold-calling design firms to ask if I could drop off my resume.  Eight years later, I’ve gotten a lot of work experience, a good amount of traveling, a growing circle of friends, and I’m on the verge of launching my freelance career full-time!

Anyway, to celebrate this day, I decided to visit the beach. What better way to feel like I’m truly in California, right?! Man, the sky put on one heck of a show for me that evening! I watched the ocean, sky, and setting sun for over an hour. I just watched and listened. It was amazing.

All I had on me was my phone, so here’s a shot of what I saw during my visit.

Here’s to many more happy years in this beautiful state 🙂

  1. Oh, wow, 8-years already! I am so amazed at how fast times goes by, and so happy you took the first steps towards this new beautiful stage of your life. Knowing you, your power, your energy, your enthusiasm and will, I know you will have a plethora of more amazing years to come.

The photos are beautiful – what an anniversary gift! To have seen you grow over the years it has been a treat. I love how you have grown into the professional photographer that you are today. Your photos, although always wonderful, now they speak for themselves, they tell a story, and express the feeling of the captured moment. Can’t wait to see what is coming up next! 🙂
